About
Lois Charles received a B.A. degree from Syracuse University, and after graduating she lived for two years in Florence, Italy. Not long after returning home to New York City, she married her husband Peter, and together they moved to Newark where she attended the University of Delaware earning an M.A. in Art History.
She lived in Washington, DC with her husband and sons. While bringing up her children, Lois worked as a docent at the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden using her education to introduce, explain and interpret the museum’s permanent collection, and the many special exhibitions to visitors. During these years, she continued to develop her personal visual sense, as well as the technical skills in photography that she uses to base her compositions for the figure studies in her acrylic paintings and pastel works.
Lois currently lives and works in San Luis Obispo, CA.
